This year survivors got involved in our social media campaign for the 16 Days of Action to End Violence against Women and Girls by contributing art work and words. Some of these pieces where also projected onto a wall in Perth during the 16 Day. A big Thank you to everyone who got involved.

Today is the 2nd day of the '12 Days of Christmas' Self Care Tips... We know the holidays can be a hard time for some survivors. For some they will be a very busy time when the focus is on everybody else but your own needs, for others it can be a time of isolation and feeling alone. However you feel during this time, we all need some self care and a wee bit of 'me time' even if it is 5 mins a day. Today' Self care Tip is: Peace... each day do something that brings you peace. Each day try to find a little time to bring a little peace in your life. Here are some ideas: 💜Watch the sun rise or sun set (you can do this from inside the house if it is too cold) 💜Go for a walk in the park or in nature, listen to the noises in nature, the wind, crunchy leaves under foot, running water, bird song or your own breathing. Focus on these sounds for a wee while, blocking out any stressful thoughts. 💜Sit with a pet, stroke its fur, focus on what your hand is feeling, the texture of the fur, the animal breathing, the animals heart beat, let everything else disappear and find a moment of calm with your pet. 💜Breath slowly and deeply, while listening to relaxing music, even if it is for 5 minutes. ------------- Although we are closed for the winter holidays, you are not alone. We can be programmed to want Christmas and the holidays to be 'perfect', but sometimes this perfection comes at a great cost; our health and well being, levels of stress due to complicated family relationships, and worrisome bank balances. Remember you don't need to be perfect. You can say 'no', you can protect your time and what is important to you.💜 If you are feeling isolated and alone, be kind to yourself by recognising the positive parts of yourself and not just the negative.
